Pretty much abandoned learning javascript(again), but picked up piano along with my favorite reason for AR right now. Pretty fun and a nice break from everything.

It's been a while, but thought I would log a few life updates.
I'm happy to say I'll be starting a new role at Apollo in the middle of October. After quitting Upwork, I wasn't sure what direction to go in but Apollo feels right, and I'm excited to start this new chapter. I'm also wrapping up a couple months at Mother which I've enjoyed and sad to let go, but I'm very grateful for the time spent and people I've met. A fantastic opportunity left behind for another timeline.
Over the weekend, I began an intro to Javascript video series by SuperHi. I've tried to learn Javascript for years but always give up somewhere in the process. It's a pretty steep learning curve but I'm pretty determined this time around. So far, I'm 1/4 of the way in and just completed the first project. Can't say I understand everything but it's starting to seep in.
Lastly, I'm going to go so see Lebanon Hanover, Blonde Redhead, and Postal Service all in the same week. Way more shows than I usually go to but should be exciting.
That's it for now but going to try and win some time back to work on projects.
Super early stages but very excited to be working on a new display font inspired by my one of favorite artists; Molly Nilsson. Tons more work to do but it's a start.
Everything about The Bear is fantastic. Every scene is thought of so elegantly with such beautiful color, sound and emotion. Themes of loneliness, depression, family, purpose, love, having confidence, lacking confidence, giving confidence. It all feels so real. I've never watched a show so relatable and inspiring at the same time yet completely different from the life I live. It's making me think about what my purpose is. Do I have one?
Explorations
Please use this at my funeral.
I've been experimenting with Midjourney trying to figure out a way to use this technology so it fits within my workflow or rather as another tool in my belt. One of the biggest challenges in past work has been budgets and casting for models. AI makes things easier in this regard saving a ton of time and money, but it leaves me wondering about the ethical nature of it all. I was upset when I heard Levi's was going to use AI to cast diverse models, but their approach in doing so instead of actually casting diverse people felt like a huge copout. Am I a hypocrite though if I do the same? It feels like it, but I'm not sure. At this point, it may seem best to keep using AI as a means for inspiration and experimentation rather than as the final product unless there are some solid disclaimers. All I know for sure is that I'm not a multi-billion dollar company and would cast diverse models anyway. The future is hard.
Some AI explorations below blended with illustrations by my wonderful partner.
It's been over 5 years since taking a huge social media break, and I've been feeling a little left out. I figure instead of jumping right in, it might be nice to setup a little journal instead to get thoughts and experiments out.
